![]() FitoPharmer, that silicon in question is a tried and true product which has been used widely by hobbyists. I've never heard on any forum or from any contact that GE I silicone causing any problems for anyone. Why it's #1 on the list, safe to use and easy to find for purchase.
Reef Puffer, I'm glad you have had no ill effects if it was the GE !! however that product is associated with problems due to the additives in that silicone and is widely documented on it's negative effects. If you haven't had problems, i'm quite happy since it's killed many other tanks...count yourself lucky. |

![]() A bit late as it's Wednesday however did make that call.
to quote "The Silicone I Windows and Doors formulation has not changed and is the same as in the past" also to quote "...other products do carry the mold inhibitor but this product does not." So, from the makers mouth nothing has changed. Anyone who wished to contact can do so via: http://www.caulkyourhome.com/contact-us.php 1-866-275-4372 MSDS: http://householdproducts.nlm.nih.gov...ds&id=13039015 |

![]() I bought a tube of the GE Silicone 1* as listed on the first post, but I believe it is unfit for aquariums as it says contains petroleum distillates in very fine print on the back, and also says not for use below the waterline in aquariums.

There are several types that are easy to get and say specifically food and or aquariums safe on the label. For the hassle of possibly doing it wrong compared to the slight cost increase of doing it right in the first place, why risk it? It reminds me of people suggesting buying calcium chloride driveway deicer for dosing. Last edited by FitoPharmer; 02-18-2013 at 01:48 AM. |
