Well it was a long day on Monday but I did it. I still need to plumb up my two closed-loops and my other two halides but I'm glad it's just up and running!

And here's my AE 30" beckett skimmer I made:

It was too big so I had to plumb it inline and beside the tank. It's run of a LG 4MD which I had lying around. Surprisingly it works really well. I'm not sure if it's the pressure rated version or not, I doesn't say on the decal.

Does anyone know if the motors are the same in the pressure rated/non-pressure rated versions and it's just using a different impeller? I've got a few of those kicking around in my junk box too. Maybe I should post pics?

Nothing under the sand but sand. That's just the light penatration limit, just shadows.

what is the plan for the closed loop? I'm doing it on my tank and would like to see some ideas of layout....tank is looking good BTW
