Default painting melamine need advice please

as johny five says in short circuit "neeed input" since im waiting for lights and have nothing else better to do.. i thought i would start my next little project my qt/holding tank build. but ill start another thread for that. what i need to know, and i think i know the answer, that trying to change the color or paint a melamine stand is a no win solution. but maybe im wrong.

if you have any ideas or thoughts on how i could go about this would be great id like to change the black to white. i was thinking automotive paint may harden the best and not easily be scraped off let me know what you think....

You can buy melamine paint.

I've used it in the past and it worked well. I didn't even prime first I just used 2 coats.

I painted my doors of the kitchen cabinets a while ago in the old house with melamine.
The directions stated that the pieces to be painted should be flat. You get the best sheen and even surface like that. Also they wanted 30 days to fully harden.
I was able to do that and liked the outcome.

rough it up so the paint has something to stick to or it will peel overtime or easily chip even paint meant for melamine, also would highly recommend using primer for similar reasons. cheers

Default melimine

my advice is to get rid of the melimine as any water on it will destroy the integrity -other than that prime it first with binz or kilts using a 5 mil or sponge roller and then paint it black -at least 3 coats-

i have had a 20g tank on this stand for.. 3 years as a fw tank stand. its only use will be to hold corals/fish for putting in to my 50 when itis finished. prestocking in a way.. so when the tank is fully cycled i can add my stowed away prizes when the time is right. then a qt tank for future inhabitants of both my 90 and 50.

do i neeeed to paint the stand... no not really im just wasting time being creative...mostly keeping myself busy so i dont go crazy due to work being slow with my company. i hate just sitting staring at my phone like a pbs donation drive thinking ring those phones ring those phones.
