Default 850G WOW !

This is Steve Weasts newest creation ... a 850G behemoth ( upgrade from a 500G ) as posted on RC ... this tank is 1 month old and is absolutely breathtaking in it's beauty and design. Surely to be " Tank Of the Month " and also " Tank Of the Year " ... at 90" Deep it gives a whole new perspective on what depth can do for a reef tank ... I uploaded a pic of it here and also a link to the thread at RC ... Enjoy !

Wow!! I watched that tank construction thread he had on there for awhile. Talk about planning. Good thing he is a builder and knows what he is doing for load limits and stuff on floors!

His tank was TOTM on RC for March 2002. Here is the link:

Although now that it is a new tank I'm sure he will be TOTM again!

Hmm, and he lives in Oregon. Can we say ROAD TRIP??!!??

He mentioned in the thread that the upgrade alone was around 6 to 7 K

Cheers

I wonder how he adds corals or moves stuff. At 90" deep, does he get on the swim suit or what? Awesome tank

I'm not sure I really follow and you know maybe I just looked at the pictures too quickly but it doesn't look any taller to me than his old tank? I thought he meant that the breadth (i.e front to back) dimension was 90" but the left-to-right and the up-and-down dimensions were the same as before.

If he's only using 400's and the depth really is 90" I'm surprised that the light can penetrate that deep. He's only using 6 bulbs if I remember correctly?

It IS a fabulous setup. Definitely not your average setup!!!

Have to go plan my 851 gallon tank now...

The width ( side to side ) and height ( top to bottom ) are indeed the same ... but front to back is now 90 inches ... so 400W bulbs ( X 12 ) are fine he just needs alot more of them LOL

Cheers
