How old is your oldest coral?
I thought this had been done before?? I just tried searching though and couldn't come up with it.
Poll doesn't include anything non-coral like fish, anemones, clams, etc. This includes corals you no longer have! Last edited by Myka; 06-09-2009 at 05:03 PM. |

I have a pink pocillipora damicornis that I got from Brad (Aquattro) and he mentioned that it was over 10 years old, I've had it for about 3-4 years (maybe more, I can't remember when I got it) and he had it several years before that.
Its at the bottom of this photo:

Very cool Christy!!
I clicked to make the results public who voted for what, but it never works for me. Don't know why. |

It worked, you just have to click on the number, and it says who voted what.

I voted 7-8yrs but it's wrong, I have mushrooms that go back 9-10yrs and toadstools from a mother colony that I got 9yrs ago.
My oldest hard coral (fox coral) is 8yrs |

My oldest is my bubble coral, 17 years this year and still growing.

I voted lower, but I guess I do have a mushroom colony that I tried to kill multiple times (even blow-torched the LR out of the tank, serious!) and it is pushing 9 years old.

Nothing kills Kenya Tree... My first coral and I still have bits of it everywhere!

I voted 7-8 years even though I've only been in the hobby for about 6.
This is due to my purple, green & orange monti caps, which I've had since close to the start. I bought them as frags from a local reefer who I assume had them for at least a year before me, judging by the size of the mother colonies. They very well could be much older than I give them credit, but unless "Canadian Man" comes back to tell me how old they are, I'll never really know.
