Default algea bloom

I upgraded my light and seem to be getting a new algea bloom. Is this normal?

Sort of, but I think my biggest problem was taking down my skimmer as it sprung a leak so the bio load is not being treated properly, and then with a brighter light.....algae problem. With the help of "Bear27" I am setting up a sump tonight and get my skimmer going again. Hope to have things normal again soon.

A while back I was using that kick ick crap, so as recommended I shut off my skimmer. I was surprise at how fast my water lost its clarity, and when I turned it back on for only a couple of hours how much green skimmate it pulled.
