Default Acrylic Hybrid Tank

Anyone here in Canada have an opinion on the acrylic tanks built with glass fronts? Does anyone build these tanks here in Canada?

I've never heard of that, and don't understand why someone would do that. There isn't a good way that I know of to bond the two together, so maybe a slotted insert. But acrylic is clearer than glass, so it doesn't make sense to do this (IMM)

For a large tank I don't want the weight of the glass but I don't want the front to be easily scratched. Hope I'm allowed to post this link here.

I'm not sure how it would hold up long term.

That looks like a custom design and not sure you'll find anyone that does that up here. It looks a lot like a typical plywood/glass build, using acrylic instead of wood/fiberglass.
How big are you thinking? Maybe look at plywood tanks, unless you need the side viewing.

Scratching the FRONT is not anything you need to be concerned about. If anything, you would want the glass on the INSIDE...that is what gets scratched. Regardless, I would just go with acrylic if you are planning a really big tank.

In all honesty I would like this as an I wall unit but not so much as a stand alone... If I ever build a shark tank in the future I think this would be ideal say a 600g. Mind you I'd need to win the lottery

Thanks for your replies/opinions. I think it's a great idea for inwall tank, I know that AGE and MRC build them in the States.

Untamed, I have read countless times people who will never do acrylic again because it scatches too easily, do you have an acrylic tank?

We are looking at a 120" x 36" x 30" display. I have a quote on a all glass build but who would you guys deal with on an acrylic build?
