If your kids currently have the 360 they would probally prefer the xbox1
Their accounts will all be transferable and any new games you bought for the 360 can be upgraded to the 1 for 10$ I believe

Xbox one has a larger purpose than just gaming. It has an hdmi input so your tv box will go in, and the xbox will allow for interactive tv watching. And it'll all work through the xbox remote.
Plus it streams media from your computer right onto your tv I feel that Xbox has more potential for expansion and new purposes
