It's time-consuming and I usually return 2 or 3 times:

1- staring blankly at the parts on the shelf
2- sifting through mixed up bins
3- creating new ways to get from A to B when they are missing that key piece
4- consulting your drawing you brought
5- hunting down a sales guy to cut some hose if needed
6- laying parts out on the floor like a weirdo
7- staring blankly (again) at the parts on the shelf
