Ive got neomeris growing on a few rocks in my DT, have had it for 8 months now. Its calcerous based. It comes and goes, the branches turn white and fall off. Havent seen any problems with it. I was worried at first then I got used to it and now its not so bad to look at. Might not like it if it started overunning the tank tho.

from what i have heard about this algae is that it is simular to halimedia... in that it needs calcium to survive... if you dont mind dosing extra calcium to accomidate it then its harmless... i found that they do use a significant amount of calcium...

my 2 cents ...
