Bill, we have our fingers crossed that that is the case! My husband (the tanks are his hobby) has been feeding him a bit more to encourage a molt. Keep your fingers crossed! I've posted these pics on a few different forums trying to see if anyone has seen such a thing before, and on one of them someone thought it might be a parasitic barnicle... which, if it is, doesn't sound good.
dsaundry... I'll mention the dip to my hubby and see what he thinks. Thanks for the replies everyone! Sandra

Looks like eggs to me but have never seen anything like it before. Hope he pulls through ok.

Really interesting thingys... You might try to ask a question on WetWebMedia.com. Some of their staff are Marine Biologists... and then there're these wild men like Bob Fenner and Anthony Calfo... It's a good research place unlike so many others.
I'm rooting for "misplaced" eggs, but; it is truly surprising for me too >:-) Bunny
