Ya it's really odd and very annoying and depressing. The plan is to catch them all tonight, I do believe I will do FW dips then put them in the QT and drop the salinity and do hypo treatment. If that doesn't work then I'll try Formalin.

Unfortunately I'll most likely shut down one of my big tanks as I don't have the money to afford everything right now Very greatful though that Steve (who used to own Little Oceans) is helping me out with everything and has agreed to take my reef fish and treat them at his house. My King angel, grouper and lunare wrasse don't play so nice with others, so at least I'll be able to keep them seperate.

Nothing like going from a dual income to a single income and have your tanks start to crash

Wow Don't know what to say other than sorry and good luck.

Thought about a UV maybe? A really big one like minimum 50w or more..

Hey all,

She has a nice big UV on there already, and i dont think it had anything to do with the pellets, i believe the lack of carbon took an already heavy stocked system over the edge and when fish started to lose thier slime coat, they started to stress everyone into ich.....but then again what do i know lol

Last night we decided against FW dipping and instead just started to lower the salinity to 1.18 to help the fish that are still in there fight the the ich, if nothing else i figure it will help to slow the progression....there are no corals left int he system that we care about so lower it may go....you wouldnt believe how much FW you need to add to a 500G system to lower is a few points....lol my arms still hurt haha

Anyways all of Lauries Corals and her nem that i took are doing great in the 230 at the store....so thats a postive note.....not too many at the moment...

Steve

Thanks Steve for the update as I haven't had time too and thanks again for all you're help I really do owe you one big time.

I believe it took around 8 (or more even) 5g buckets full of FW to drop the tank from 1.022 to 1.018 Last night I droped it down to 1.016 so I know what you mean about sore arms as the heater I put into the RO water to warm it up didn't warm the water at all and I had to dump lots more buckets into the tank to drop it down.

The fish that are left most seem to be eating, the only two that aren't are my pink tail trigger who is super covered in white spots and is breathing heavy, and my grouper who has lost most of his colour is breathing heavy and has a few spots on him.

I unplugged the lights because I figure it couldn't hurt to have the lights off for a few days and I am running a 36 watt UV (not a 50 but it does have a brand new blub in it). So we'll see how it goes.

Try to get as much oxygen in the tank by placing as many air pump bubblers on the bottom and adding a powerhead near the surface.
Ich attacks the gills and the additional oxygen assists the fish.
