Thumbs up An introduction sub forum?

How come this site does not have a place were new commers to canreef can introduce themselves and say a little about what they keep and what not. I belong to 11 different fish forums and this is the only one that does not have an introduction place.

Guess we never thought about it, and nobody mentioned it before. It seems that most new people introduce themselves in the main forums, but we'll discuss and see if we feel there is a need for this.

Default Journal

Starting a journal is a good way for people to get to know you.

Everyone can see it and it shows up in new posts. Introduce yourself there and your tank. People will follow. I started a new thread about my new set up. I am not new here, but I got hundreds of hits.

Give it a shot.

I wonder... does anyone care enough to read signatures if you make them really small? I would not. I would probably moan and complain, read three words and swear once or twice. But since you made it this far, please rate my builds.

Yes but the thing is a lot of people don't want to start journals b/c there tank set-up is already done so they just then post pictures of the tank in the picture section. It an intro section people can say where they come from and how long they have been in the hobby and how they got started etc....

The journal section is a document of your tank in its creation and continuing journey. I think that's the best place to introduce yourself. While it's nice to say 'hi i'm new here'...we're all here for our tanks. Either running or in the works. I'd rather see more tank threads than a bunch of intro threads where I'm likely not going to see much besides a bunch of hellos and welcomes.

Just my 0.02 though.

Personally I wouldn't look at intro threads but if you introduced yourself with a question or tank journal then for sure I would.
