Thanks Vic - the sand bed is just a skiff, should have 1-2 pounds per gallon which in my case would be 120 - 240 pounds , there is 40 pounds in my tank now and that is the way it's going to stay. Clean up crew - yes.

40lbs. isn't much and a (small) cleaning crew should have no problems keeping it mixed and clean + with the power heads I imagine you aren't going to have many (any?) dead spots. Now that I've got my car fixed I get to do the powerhead adventure on mine

If your comparing the sand to the black frame - keep on mind this is a frameless tank, the black you see in the pic is the black silicone

Here are a few shots of the top cap completed. the moulding that is up against the tank has not been coated or tact down.
I finished the cap with a two part epoxy which is shiney and very thick. It looks even wet but its dry. This epoxy is waterproof heat proof and salt water proof. I have also got started on the canopy which goes from the top of the tank to the ceiling. In the last pick you will notice how I cut off the top of the tank as I will be posting pics for the canopy later. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Jeff

Thanks for the praise guys you all are too kind!
Got started on the maple trim work on the top of my stand. Also decided today that I am not going the canopy route. I will be going to the ceiling with some shelves above the light. Now I need to start doing some drawings again to figure this one out. Here is a shot of the area the maple top plate is going. ![]() Starting of fitting the peices together. ![]() ![]() This is a shot of a completed corner before routing and securing it down. ![]() Couple of shots of a completed corner, this still has to be nailed down. ![]() ![]() Once complete I will be applying a tung oil to bring out the grain then applying a waterproof urathane. Also there will be one more moulding that will cover up the base of the tank totaly. Not sure if I will buy this or will make it myself.' I should have this complete tomorrow during the day. Then I will be starting the top portion.
