I tried to ask about these at home hardware and the guy wasn't sure if they vented to the outside (which I want) or to the upstairs (which I don't want)

It vents outside like a cloths dryer.

I think they were around $400 and up from home hardware

I seem to remember the $400 one being fine for our size of house (1600 sq feet)
