Default Tank temperature variations

This has probably been discussed to death but my crappy searching talents aren't coming up with much soooo.....
What is acceptable in the higher range? What I mean is what's too high?
I fight to keep it around 79-80 but it doesn't always work, right now it's at 83.5, when should I start to worry?

Its not so much the temp as how quickly the swing occurs. Like Brad, I watched my temp climb to about 91-92F every day for almost a week. It only ever went down to about 88 at night so there wasn't much of a swing. These days 84 is about as high as I'd like my tank to go (and thats when the chiller blows a fuse).
