Wow freaky moment. Ya you should secure the venture hose inside of the sump.

Securing the hose inside the sump can be tricky as well because you do not want the hose to fall underwater which would cause your skimmer to stop working.

I've now simply snipped the hose a few inches above the holder that's attached to the body of the ER so that there's not enough extra length for the hose to flop anywhere inside or outside the sump.

Exactly what I did, well the hose I had was only that long anyways
