Isn't having a 'fuge on a predator tank better than no 'fuge at all?
I plan on incorporating a 'fuge into a sump for my Triggerfish FOWLR.

Yes, I agree. I am only suggesting that a macro fuge should not be thought of as the main form of conversion/export. On a sparsely fed reef a properly designed and sized one may be able to convert the nitrate load efficiently but not on a predator tank. The main goal should be removing nutrients as fast as possible as with pre screening and a skimmer.
