Question Color on Monti Cap icolor washing out....

I have a fairly large orange monti cap that has gone very pale in color, It used to be a deep orange in my other tank but it now has faded to almost a light pink.

The only major difference in the tanks is that my old one had 250W 10K HQI bulbs and the new tank has 400W 14K SE. I had to have it out of the water for about 10 minutes a couple of weeks ago while I re-attached it to its base. The coloration seemed to realy deteriorate after this.

I am currently dosing with Seachem Calcium....can't remember what kind exactly and have just started with reef solutuion for trace elements..

Any ideas on what could be causing this.

Joel

The change in lights is probably making bleach. Is there any way to shade the coral a little bit until it adjusts?

Agreed, the light upgrade is the problem. Monti caps are quite hardy so it will bounce back. Just make sure your CA, Alk and MG are up to par and give it some time. Extra flow never hurt either.
