I would think if it was outside it would get moisture in the ballast as well as the cold temp especially in Edmonton. If the ballast is in your stand maybe use some weather stripping around the doors...

I have to admit I put mine up against the glass.... What you be concerned about is how much preasure the rock is puting on the glass, scratches and if the rock falls then you could have problems with...

Yeah that would probably work fine but at 13 bux your better off getting it from the ebay site I mentioned its only 4 bux I think plus shipping everything with the lights came to 27 bux shipped....

I got my ASM from OA (G2) and LOVE IT. It's on my 95 gal tank.. If you have a 140 gal then I think I would go with the G3 as a minimum.

www.digikits.com and that takes you to his ebay site.. I got the 6 LED string i think it may be a bit much but I can always tone it down buy taking out a light or 2 rather than having to order more...

Well I ended up buying the LEDs already strung together with a power adaptor for 27 bux shipped to me so that wasn't bad.. I went around looking for the power adaptor and it was 10-15 bux plus taxes...

The only really tricky part is the sand bed.....
The only really tricky part is the sand bed.. Once disturbed and while transferring it WILL get disturbed you will have a huge spike and probably some amonia. It can be done but tough without some...
