I wont speak for Darren, but according to the manufacturer of my RO/DI unit they recommend changing the sediment and carbon pre-filters every 6 months (about $20 for both) which should allow the RO...

You should make sure that it has adequate lighting, but not direcly under a halide if you have them. I keep mine down on the sand.

Definitely feed it! I feed mine shrimp or scallops from Safeway...

I've got two tiger-tail cukes in my tank, and I don't feed them anything. They happily snack on the sand all night long, eating whatever detritus, bacteria, algae, etc they find.

Yeah, if you've got a dual 250W MH w/ 6500K lamps you will want the actinics not only to increase the spectrum available to the corals, but also tame down the yellowish appearance of the 6500K lamps....
