i have just purchased a button polytop and was wondering how close to other corals it can be placed, the girl in the shop said it was toxic ,but not much else

Button polyp? Wasn't aware they were poisonous.

Yup, can certainly be bad. Not all are toxic, but some are just plain nasty.
