Default kalk and carbon

hi everybody, i am running a charcoal only canister. iwas wondering if i need to turn it off while i drip the kalk in? does the charcoal absorb the kalk concentration? all this stuff happens in my sump of coarse, so some of the kalk solution runs through the canister before it goes through the main tank.

thanks in advance

alex
