Default New skimmer thoughts

So I may be in the market for a new skimmer. I may just look for another pump but for this thread I'd like feedback on plan b "skimmer replacement"

There are two in my price range and reasonably quickly available for me

1) bubble magus nac 7 for $260ish
2) vertex omega 150 @ 380ish

What would your pick be? Any others I should consider? System is a 75g display and a 40ish gallon sump.

Thanks,

Reef octopus diablo is a sweet looking skimmer with a DC pump as well

I should also add that if you need a skimmer to borrow I have a Tunze 9010 you could use, kick ares little bugger.

They are both great skimmers (as is the new octopus with dc pumps, they are flying off the shelves). With that being said you need to look at price and footprint and maybe decide from there.

Reef Octopus PS1000int gets my vote. Just a bit pricier than the NAC7 and pulls good skimmate. Got mine from Dave at Concept about a month ago.

Here a quick shot of 4 days of dry skimming

The reef octopus does look sweet, a little out of my price range though. I'm really leaning towards the vertex omega if I decide to go for a skimmer vs a pump. Will sleep on it tonight and place an order for something in the morning!

I should be OK until a replacement gets here, I appreciate the offer and if I decide to take you up on it I'll shoot you a PM!

Cheers

Good choice.

We use the Vertex Alpha skimmers and absolutely love them.
