Default Cleaning skimmer/re-break-in?

I just cleaned my skimmer properly for the first time since I got it. Took apart everything that could be disassembled, wiped off all the film and grit that's accumulated since April. I didn't touch the dial that sets the water height though, and now that it's running again, the water is way, way lower in the chamber.

Is that normal? Is it just breaking itself in again? Should I tighten the dial to raise the water level now, or will I wake up with an overflowing skimmer cup tomorrow if I do that?

Yesit will happen you are taking all the film and grit off and the oil compounds that have occured the mote its clean the better it will function by 20% This always happens when you clean any skimmer the water level will go down. Just leave it u have a clean skimmer ow just watch it u may have to adjust the level to drop it lower.
