Default Bulkhead Play

I had my tank drilled for one inch bulkheads. It seems that the hole cut into the glass is a little too large. I'd say it is approximately 1/4 inch bigger than the bulkhad.

Is this ok? Will the gasket still seal?

I'm pretty sure the holes drilled for my bulkheads are 1 3/4" . I think that's the standard size for a 1" bulkhead. They will seal just fine

I think it should be ok as well, I gust checked on a spare 90 gallon I have, and it is almost 1/2 inch bigger than the bulkhead.

did you manage to get the 1 inch gate valve?

Thanks guys. Guess what I found. My new bulkhead has a label....

"1 inch bulkhead requires a 1 3/4 inch hole."

Kevin - no I never found a 1 inch gate valve.

If a gate valve was readily available I'd use one but I am gonna try a 1 inch ball valve out of necessity. I've been 3 days sumpless now.

Your tank will be fine without a sump, just keep your powerheads going. I mean what are you really losing by not having a sump right now. Reactors and a skimmer, which people run tanks without all the time.

Keep up on your top ups, make sure to keep your salinity in check, do your plumbing and sump the right way the first time.
