Default LF Canister filter (Edmonton)

I am looking for a canister filter for a friend. She has a fresh water tank and it's 50G. If you have a spare one lying around, let me know. Thanks.

Question
Since my friend only has a small tank (50G). Would the Fluval 3 or 4 be too much for that tank? She's new to the hobby so she's only keeping guppies and neon tetras for now. Would the flow be too much for those little fishes?
