Might seem like a silly question but im a newbie so where can you find pieces of eggcrate in Edmonton?

Yep, Home Depot or Rona will have it. Ask for fluorescent light diffuser and you will have better luck than asking for egg crate. Everyone here knows what it is but not usually the case at hardware stores.
