I hear they are good, but u may also want to look at the Little Giants. They last for years with regular oiling. My last one lasted almost 8 years. They to tend to be a bit noisy depending if the model has a fan on the back of it.

I love my dart gold. I used to use baldor motors at work for stuff far worse than this, they're built to last. Great pump, got it used a year ago and haven't had to touch it. They sent me new seals awhile ago for free, but I found out it was my fail plumbing, not the pump :P.

I have used Mag 18, rock solid pump and fairly quiet

Now usine an eheim 1262, again rock solid and even quieter the the Mag.

I should note that I could only hear the Mag, if I put my ear on the sump glass. So both work well.

I am using a eheim 1262 pump, quite and efficient. You can find them for around 160-180, 900gph. I also have a red dragon 1200 gph pump which by far the most quietest realiable pump I have ever used, unfortunately it is on the expensive side around a thousand for the pump. I never had a chance to use any tunze pumps except for wave box and ph, I found them to be on the noisier side but don't quote me on it.

I have a Quiet One 4000 on my tank internal and have used a 1000 and a 3000 in other scenarios. I've never had any issues with that line.

I use a MAG 12 on my display and a Quiet One on my frag tank. Both close to same flow at 0' head, but the quiet one drops almost in half at 5', the MAG 12 stays at 1100gph at that height. Most internal pumps will be quiet, be sure to check the flow charts for the height you'll have to pump it to, generally 4 or 5 feet plus a bit for pipe friction.
