Default Is it safe to use a calcuim additive in a Discus tank

I have a 40 gallon dicsus tank with a few shrimp in it and was wondering if I should add a calcuim to help with the development of exoskeleton. I use RO/DI water only when I do water changes. should I add anything when I change the water.

When my daughter kept Discus she joined a forum called Simply Discus. The people on the forum were amazingly nice and extremely helpful. There was a gentlemen named Kenny who is very knowledgeable and a lady named April also very knowledgeable.

Hope this helps.
