Question White sand star?

Do these need to be kept in a sand bed aquarium? I have one that I am holding temporarily in a bare bottom tank but he's moving around way more than usual. I think he's looking for sand! Thanks

Loudest part of my system would be the nagging sound I hear on a regular basis about how much time and money I spend on the tank.

Absolutley!

It will perish without a DSB (established) where it can move and sift through the sand looking for detritus/fauna.

They are somewhat difficult to keep alive, even with the proper conditions.

Without sand it will starve to death. They should only be kept in a very well established tank. It's legs will most likely start eroding away or falling off.
