Default How much light for sps

how much light do you need for sps...i have a tall 25gal tank with 175watt 5500k and actinic....is that enogh to have acropora if i put them at the top...about 6 inches below the water surface and 10 inches from the light....or di really need 250watt

Default How much light for sps

How tall is your tank. Currently I have a 27gal tank which is 18" tall. I used to have a 175w 10000k bulb but found that sps did not do well under it at all. I'm now using a 250w Iwasaki (6500k) with actinics and they are doing much better. I'd recommend using a 250w. This way if you ever get a bigger tank you can still use your lighting...unless of course you get a monster sized tank ;)
