That "guy" is Tom Barr, freshwater plant guru, marine plant pioneer. How good is he? If you added up all the knowledge of all the people who frequent this board, it might equal half what he has already forgot. If he even posted half what crossed his mind the aquarium world would be a better place. Search for some posts by him, if possible talk to him in person. I wish I could have spent more time in his presence, maybe next year. He's the plant equivalent of Sprung but better.

Tom is a smart guy with a lot of knowledge about freshwater plants. He is experimenting with marine plants too. Without Tom's knowledge many people would not be in the planted tank hobby. I would encourage all you reefers to make the step upward to a fw planted tank. It is really not that much harder than a reef tank.

I kept a 135gal planted FW tank for a year and wow...it was alot of work. Reefing is a piece of cake
