Default removing trim on 90 gallon cube tank

has anyone tried removing the black trim on top of the tank?

Yup. Sometimes it pulls right off, other times you want to smash it with a hammer
If you can get one corner up enough to slide in a piano string or some other thin wire, you can dental floss it off.

i found this out accidently...

i left my tank in the back seat of my BLACK car on the hottest day of the year. Took it out later that night to remove the trim. Came out as it wasnt even attached except for one corner (which cracked the glass!)

except for that mishap i would recommend using a heat gun/hair dryer to heat up the silicone holding the rim in place, especially in the corners.
