I live in Vernon, but the shops I tend to visit in Kelowna are Pet City in the south end and The Purple Seahorse on Hwy 33 (road to Big White). Both small shops with limited equipment, but their livestock seems to be better looked after than that of the larger box pet stores. Even the chain stores don't have that much in the way of equipment, you pretty much have to keep driving to the coast for that. There are a couple of businesses operating out of their homes, but I don't have the info for them at my fingertips. I imagine someone from Kelowna will check in here at some point with that info.

The Purple Seahorse has a web site now, I just discovered. Their shop recently expanded and they carry more livestock than they used to:

http://www.purpleseahorse.com/

Pet City coordinates, they don't appear to have a web site:

5-3151 Lakeshore Road
Kelowna, BC V1W 3S9
(250) 762-5511

Here's a link to an older thread on the subject. I'm sure there's a more recent one, but this is the first that came up when I did a Google search.

I agree with Mike's comments. The Purple Seahorse is the cheapest place to buy Instant Ocean, but PetsMart will price match if PS is out of stock. Personally, I like to buy from private stores before the chain stores, so I always checked PS first. Pet City has the best coral selection, but you have to get there shortly after an order arrives or all the good stuff will already be gone.

Reef Keepers and Interior Reef both operate out of their homes. They are both hit or miss for livestock and equipment.

None of the stores in Kelowna have much for dry goods.

reef keepers is gone and i think interior reef both home based is in limbo, i think pet city on lakeshore just past KLO by darry queen in the mission is the best right now, i agree best corals on delivery day but his stock is by far the best quality and usually nice fish, no SPS though, Purple sea horse i think is less kept , they seem to have raised the prices and in my opinion dont seem to have very healthy stock, but thats just my opinion, id hit pet city!
cheers

I didn't realize Reef Keepers is gone now. That sucks, he built that building just for the business.

A couple years ago he had big dreams of setting up a retail location near the casino.
