Question Mp40w Es setup

So I received my my first mp40 last night. Man was I excited!however I have a few questions. My tank thicness is between the 3/8&1/2 inch so I set it to the 1/2 inch setting on the pin spacer should I have gone to the 3/8? I also used the rubber gasket should I use this or remove it. Lastly I have set it to reef crest mode at about 75% on a 180 gall bow front which mode does everyone find to be the best reef crest or lagoonal.

Thanks for your input

go with whatever space that allows the unit to mount flush...if it's too thin the dry part will actually fall a little away from the glass. I used the rubber gasket on mine. Reef Crest naturally will create a "lagoonal" period...so I'm not sure what you're trying to ask here....but I know alot of people with Vortechs keep it on Random (Reef crest mode)

Since upgrading my drivers to the ES models I've found TSM (Tidal Swell Mode) to work nicely in my system. Before that, I ran them in long pulse mode, anti-synch, to get a back & forth flow, but not a wave. I have two, but even with one, there's no reason not to try one of the ES modes. On a 180 you should be cranking it to 100%, unless there's something too close in front of it.

I have a 4' 150 Gal with two MP40 ES pumps, I keep mine at 100% all the time usually running TSM or Reef Crest Anti Sync. I also have two Hydor Evo 1400's running in the back, it's like a cyclone in there!

Read the instruction manual, and measure your glass.
It will tell you exactly what to set it @, and if you use the gasket or not.
