Default greetings!

Hey fellow Canadian reefers!

It's about time I started posting on some forum or another instead of lurking. I frequent NR, RC, and AP, as well as AC, but haven't found myself posting anything except the latter. In any case, allow me to introduce myself and my humble reef.

I started reefing in January 2009 but have been keeping aquariums since I was about 11 or 12 (I'm 24). My reefing addiction began with a 10 gallon nano reef but I was soon feeling the need to upgrade. Being a grad student meant I was limited in upgrade options but I settled on a 20L in November 2009. I'm hoping to upgrade again next year, depending on where I end up for more school.

There have been a few mishaps along the way. I lost some corals (mostly zoas and those were from a certain vendor who sells a Lot of Frags) but it was in part due to the plague of dinoflagellates I have for about 7 months. I've also had carpet surfing and hypersalinity incidents (my sitter ran out of topoff a few days before I got home but everything recovered, including the dinos :\). I've learned from these mishaps and absorbed a wealth of knowledge from sites, books, and magazines also. For the most part, it's been smooth sailing.

Anyways, without further ranting, I'll get on with some pics.

A very early FTS of my 10 gallon:

I added more rock to the 10 gallon (was too full).

My most recent FTS of the 20L

My beautiful little firefish before she(?) went carpet surfing.

Here are some recent shots of corals and a new critter I found.

That beautiful big bristleworm showed up this week as I was organizing some pictures so I just had to snap some pics (and some video!).

I'll post some system specs here now that you've looked at some pictures.

Size: 20L with 23lb Live rock and 30lb CaribSea oolitic aragonite sand
Inception: October 2009
Lighting: 4x39W Nova Extreme Pro with stock lamps (due to be replaced in a month or so)
Flow: Korallia 1 and Aqueon 700
Filtration: AquaC Remora HOB skimmer (not a bad little skimmer)
Heater: 150W Ebo Jäger heater

I dose ESV B-Ionic 2 part daily (looking to get into dosing pumps) and feed the LPS mysis approximately weekly. The system is currently fishless.

I'll leave it at that for now!

Graeme

Nice little tank you got there. From your laundry list of incidents it sounds like you are a seasoned veteran!

Welcome to can reef!

Never thought I'd call a bristleworm pretty but that comes close! Coming along nicely...you just need a few fish now to round things out.

Welcome! A very nice tank.

You won't regret buying a dosing pump, it was the best thing I did with my nano - the parameters stay rock solid once you get the amount right!

Thanks! It sounds worse that it is lol. Those dinos really tested my resolve though.

That's what I'm aiming for . Do you mean something like a LiterMeter in terms of pumps? I was thinking along the lines of a perstaltic pump, since the fancier varieties are out of my price range for the time being.

Exactly what I was thinking. I want to get another firefish (I have a glass top now) and something else too. Any suggestions? I've always been into Banggai cardinals but I worry my system is too small for one.

Thanks! I have no doubt you will as I'm becoming a shameless shutterbug now that I have access to my gf's camera lol.
