Default Nova Extreme Fan Noise

I have a 36" nova extreme 4 bulb fixture and it is soo loud i can't take it anymore is there a fan or some way to rig this up so i won't loose my hearing im having a hard time finding a fan that will be queit. Last night i had the idea of locating the ballast outside of the fixture and cooling it in some sort of home made unit. Problem is i don't want my tank to look like a frankenstien job.

First off, is it 110 or 12 volt. If it's 110 then you are really limited to your choices. You might be able to find something with more blades that turns slower.
If it's a 12 volt or lower then you can probably find a good computer fan.

I had the same problem on mine (110) and never did find a suitable replacement.

I was just looking at your fixture online. Everyone rates these lights as extremely quiet.
Maybe take it apart and see whats happening. It sounds like yours might be coming loose from the fixture or something.

I wonder if you cant just unhook the fan. I'm running an Aquaticlife 4 bulb T5 system on my cube and it has no fan and no heat issues.

I tried running it with the fan off and it gets really hot...i wish that was an option but there is enough heat even with the fan on

Sounds odd. I,ve had a few of their fixtures and never had an issue with noise. Maybe a bad batch of fans?
