Talking Blog Post: EcoTech Marine Releases A New Battery Backup

Hey all!!

Today's blog post features news from EcoTech Marine (the makers of the ever popular vortech pump). It seems as though they are releasing a new battery backup unit for your vortech pumps.

Read the rest here..

As well, our store will be launching a huge sale on all of our frags and colonies. Lots of WYSIWYG for everyone. Stay tuned!

Looks like a cool product.

However, I would use a APC battery backup, they range from $60-$150 and would power the pumps much longer than the Vortech one (depending on APC model)

Example 1: http://www.memoryexpress.com/Product...21963(ME).aspx

Example 2: http://www.memoryexpress.com/Product...X3035(ME).aspx

Costco usually has the 1000VA models for about $130 and 1200VA for $150ish. I bought many of these for my servers.

In that example 2, there is a lead acid battery. In your experience, how long do those last before replacement. I assume that it is a sealed, deep cycle, maybe it even has gel cells
Thanks

APC recommends replacing every three years, and if you run the software you can monitor wattage and battery run time, and this software will actually remind you in the 3 year time frame. I personally have had some running 5 years without issues.

replacement batteries are about $60, I have bought a couple and replacement is easy.
