Haha I had been debating contacting you when I just noticed it wasn't available anymore.

Looks like a good start!

The terminology is pretty fuzzy. This is how I decipher the whole terrarium/vivarium/paludarium thing:

vivarium - "viv"/"viva" - life - "place of life"
terrarium - "terra" - earth - just land stuff
paludarium - a vivarium incorporating both land and aquatic elements.

So more than one term can apply sometimes.

Whatever you call them, they are dang cool little projects. Can't wait to see where this one goes too.

well delph, if its any consolation i was over at pieces today and they have the tank on special for 150, but the exo terras are a bit overpriced, but i enjoy the door system they have in place.

If you need however pm me I have a tonne of leftover stuff I could give you. the grapewood and the random driftwood peices i will not be using. along with extra moss hydro balls dirt etc... hell even the fake plants if you enjoy the fake plants

Now as for the rest of this tank I have no clue what I can and cant put in it if i ever plan to support a lizard. So those will come slowly.

I will update when I have more however.

Nice job, you can start with some plants while your deciding on a critter.
Did you get a light yet?
Tony you missed out on that one, half the work was done.
+1 on the leftover stuff if someone needs it, fake plants, bark chips and stuff.
I can start someone out with fruitflies and springtails if needed.

Here's a pic of my Exoterra it's grown in like crazy and all the broms have pups. The froggys are hiding.

My problem is I start thinking about what I want to do and I start going overboard with it. I want something I can move all my broms into and I end up planning out this 4' - 5' trapezoidal thing that would need to be custom made and ... and .. and .. I stop it there because there are other things that need attention first. But one day, look out!

The exoterra light (with the 2 bulbs) is good, I have it on mine. I supplement with a few hours of halide but I have to watch the temps of the frogs.
Two of the exoterras lights (4 bulbs) would probably be plenty.
For plants I tried to make a basic list of suitable ones mostly from the dendroboard and orchidboard forums and looked for small plants at nurseries, and garden centers.
Here's a list of some Vivarium Plants
The broms came from Hawaiian Botanicals in Richmond, they have some nice stuff.
Paramount Orchids here in Calgary has a ton of stuff but I had a hard time finding suitable orchids for my viv, I have one still kicking but no flowers.
