Default 25 Gallon Reef Tank

My 25 gallon reef tank. This is a 5 second exposure so all the fish are blurry. I will have to take some more photos. I have had this tank up since September. The rock I got from Myka and it is just gorgeous. I love the beautiful purple coraline on it which has come out more since being in my tank. I have gotten most of my coral frags from local reefers. Currently in there is GSP, two green candies and a pink/green candy, frogspawn, and a kenya tree. Fish I now have two percs, a royal gramma, firefish, and 2 chromis. 2 cleaner shrimp, a coral banded shrimp, as well as several hermit crabs and snails make up the reef for now. I'm going to add a few more corals today.

Here are some more photos.

The tank when I first got the rock so you can see how much it has changed. Wow I am actually surprised looking at this how purple my rock is now. My first fish Alphonzo the blue damsel is there. Unfortunately he died fairly recently, had a problem with talc from putty.

Here is just after I first added my first coral frags. Again the tank is much more colourful now. My first Royal Gramma, Phyllis who died from ick is in here. You can also see my frogpawn (note how much bigger it is now), my candies and a scroll coral which did not make it.

See what I mean about the purple?? Wow I love it! This is our previous foster kitten, Sookie, admiring the tank. You can see my new percs (Greyhound and David Suzuki) here and the new royal gramma (Phyllis Jr.). She is very small and over by the bottom of the heater in the pic. You can see the frogspawn and green candies.

you can see the chromis' here too. Mac and Charlie.

Amazing photo of one of our cleaner shrimp. I love this one. The shrimp are named Bill Murray and Chevy Chase. That is a torch coral in behind him which I love but died from a jelly infection after falling too many times. I finially decided to epoxy it down and it got sick just after that.

Brian the Coral Banded Shrimp. Note his blue legs.

If your interested I do have a 15gal acrylic sump you could have so you can get that skimmer and heater out of your tank.

that is some incredible coralline algae growth for such a young tank. What are you dosing for calcium?

Hey Chris,

Yeah that sump would be cool but you might have to help me set it up I have no idea how to. I'm not dosing anything for calcium. I don't add anything to the water other than Seachem water conditioner (got it because it doesn't make the skimmer go nuts) and I just started using a ph buffer. I use Instant Ocean salt. I can't believe the coraline either looking back at the before pics. I didn't realize it had spread that much! I guess Trail water has the right amount of calcium in it?? Or something anyways....perhaps Cominco does the trick lol

Maybe Brian should be a Brianna? That is when we first got him/her/it. What kind of coral banded has blue legs like this? I could never figure it out online. It's a neat shrimp but hides alot. I got an LED moonlight and see it alot more at night. I love my cleaner shrimp they are always out and jump on you to clean you.

I even have a return pump that I would sell really cheap to go with that sump.......the only thing you would need to find would be a HOB overflow.

Then not a prob, I gladly show you how to set it all up.

As for the overflow this is similar to the one Danny and I both use...and should be about the right size for your tank. But don't be fooled by what the add says with a 1" bulkhead its only good for about 300 GPH
