Hi,

I have a 50g bow front set up, i am not sure if i have enough rock in it. I know that i should have around 80lbs of live rock but i can't tell how many lbs i current have. Can anyone give me an estimate of how many in my current tank with your experience?

Thanks

Its hard to tell how much LR weighs. You can get some really dense rock that weighs a lot and you can get some porous rock that doesn't weigh that much. My guess would be about 30-40lbs in there though. Best way to figure it out is weigh it, and thats a pain in the a$$

Really depends on a: the look your going for b: the bioload of the tank. I would guestimate that youve got about 30ish pounds there...but that will vary depending on the density of the rock.

Thanks Scott :-) Yes it is a pain weighting all of them. Let's see what others think. Cheers

enough rock for what?
if your using it for filtering that depends on the bioload you plan on keeping
if it mostly for looks then i say add more but thats personal preference
its hard to say but i would guess you have way less than 30lbs i would say closer to 15-20, i have about 80lbs in my 60g and probably 500+lbs split between 2 other tanks but i like the look of a tank full of rocks

IMO it is best to shortchange yourself and than look for some high quality special pieces otherwise when they come available you have no room
The fact that I have some high quality special pieces for sale in no way affects the opinion I have given you.
