SitandWatch & Key Equine,

How are things going? Nice to see someone in the vacinity. I just got into this 3 months ago. Lots to learn.

Hey! A little group of newbies! I started mine up about two months ago now and it is a seahorse species tank. I currently have one seahorse and am looking for a couple of friends for him... It has been mostly fun so far, one unfortunate experience early on, but otherwise it has been great! I love my seahorse and can't wait to find a couple more...

Have you been checking your ammonia levels? How is the rock doing. Mine came alive after the first month. Then it exploded and we have creepy crawly things like crazy.

Did you check it out at night with a flashlight? What do you see?

We have two tanks. One 34 gal (Red Sea 130) and a 24 gal Nano Cube. The nano is being used as a quaratine tank (QT) for a couple of fish that are going into the 34 gal once I know everyone is ok. (3 weeks in QT)
We were so excited to watch the live rock (LR).....its really exciting!!

I think we are going to have to build a larger tank in the basement as the smaller tanks are cool, but this hobby is.... I suppose like being on Heroin. It takes up all your time and money and you are hooked!! LOL!

I have not checked mine with a flashlight, sounds fun though! I might have to try it tonight. I have some bristleworms and pods that scurry around during the day as well!
I have checked my ammonia/nitrite/nitrate levels every other day since I started it up. Mine ran for about a month before I got my seahorses (earlier than I'd have liked, but the seahorses were on a timeline) and everything worked out okay. Lots of checking and staying on top of the levels though... I am pretty much out of the woods now as far as a fear of 'new tank syndrome' so that is comforting.
