Default black mollies and saltwater hair algae

Have any members of the forum ever kept a black mollie(s) to eat sw hair algae, and how long did it take to acclimate them to saltwater? I know the cause of the algae but I'm looking to get a little extra help.. The RODI unit is getting fixed at the moment..

Thank you

I never have....but I had huge success with a sea hare, you can "rent" them from J&L (they had a ton of 'em in when I was there Sunday) and once it has finished your hair algae you return it, as they will starve with no hair algae, you can get store credit back for about $10 I think. I'm pretty sure king ed has them in right now too

I've lived in Gibsons for a couple of years but Sechelt for the last four My husband grew up here, but I'm from way up north (yellowknife) I've gotta say that winters here are a heck of a lot better than where I grew up!!!

Do you keep Africans? I used to have a big tank of Tanganyikan and Malawi cichlids, beautiful fish!!

J&L usually sells the sea hares for $20 or so and if you bring it back I think you get a $10 store credit, pretty good deal, my sea hare did such a great job, just be sure to drip acclimate them slowly and pass on when he's done
Also, if your powerheads aren't covered be careful as they have a habit of wandering into them, mine never did with my koralias but you never know

I keep a heck of alot of Africans... I may have close to 400 to 500!
I just got back from J&L , great store.. it's not the first time & I'm sure it wont be the last. I picked up a pom pom crab and a couple turbo snails.
Sechelt was a great place to grow up, with all of the fishing I did I am still almost addicted!

Thanks for the advice MacheteAvenue

I have a fat black molly in my tank at the moment. It eats hair algae quite a bit as well as anything else it can get its hands on.
