Default MH lighting question

I should have a son agro ballast set up later this week. (yehaa) and will be getting the radium bulb tomorrow, but a buddy wants to see what the radium will look like in his tank with his standard 400 watt ballast.

Would there be a problem by first firing the bulb in a standard ballast (for 10 minutes or so, just for lighting comparison) and then use it in my son agro? Would the differences in wattage cause any problems with the bulb?

TIA
Bill

Is there a "burn in" colour change with the radium?

Jack, I suppose there is, but unless you hooked it up and left home for a couple of weeks, you probably wouldn't notice.
