Default Baffles in Sump

If 3 baffles, in the sump, between the skimmer section and the return section are good, would 4 be better?

Refugium will be a separate section (intake from the tank with water returning to the main sump via 1" lines feed into the space between the baffles)

Simple answer, more is better, but is it required? Tradionally you see three because that's enough.

Main purpose of the baffles is to keep bubbles created by the drains and skimmer away from the return pump intake. You got lots of variables here, sump design or layout, is your ref return by-passing baffles, flow, position of drains, using bubble towers and socks, height, spacing and depth of baffles, size of pump section, etc.

Just make sure they are not too close together, then it gets hard to get your hand in there, then your hand gets all cut up once it gets covered in tube-worms........................................

well you want 2 after the skimmer, the first one have the water go under than over the second, if you want to put a fuge next then have 2 more but opposite this time. but if not than 3 is fine ( the last one being the water has to go over, so you have room for the heater and such to go in.
