What are you using? A HOB filter or canister filter?

are you having any problems using the sponge? ammonia, nitrite? i would say removing a sponge so you can sterilize it would be easier than bio-balls

I don't bother with a bio filter in my own quarantine, because if I have to medicate it kills off the bacteria any ways. I just do frequent water changes and run it with a salinity of like 1.016, slowly working it up to my tank's salinity.

My quarantine habbits haven't been that good lately though
