Default 10 meg Cameras

I have a couple of questions for the camera junkies out there. My wife would like to purchase a SLR camera preferably 10 megapixles or higher, at the moment we are looking at a Cannon digital rebel xti.

Does anyone own one of these cameras ?

Can anyone make any recommendations on a digital camera that is the $1000 range?

If you know of any sites that rate these types of cameras please feel free to post them.

Thanks

i had a sony alpha and now im using a nikon d80,both are great but the lenses that i got in the sony kit sucked i ended up taking the sony back after a month.the body was real nice and was real easy to use but i would plan on spending another 500-100 on 1 or 2 lenses pluss the 1000 for the body.i just bought the d80 since i had 2 good lenses for a nikon already and im very impressed.but im also at almost $3,500 with all my extras.

I have the Sony Apha and waited for the release of this camera and bought the day it was available here.

Here's one feature that I liked.

"Sony Alpha lens mount
Identical to the Minolta A-type bayonet mount, enabling the use of a large back catalogue of existing Minolta and third party lenses as well as avoiding the development of a whole new system."

It's a great camera for the money.
