Default Tap Water

Hi
I am just wondering about tap water....I dont use it in my aquarium but we have been awarded the best water in North America and it comes from an artesian well in my town. I was wondering if I would be able to use this water in my tank? I can get it right from the source, a pump station, but it probably has some copper pipe leading up to the tap on the outside of the building.
Any ideas on this? Could I test it to see if I can use it?
Thanks for any replies!

I have always used tap water- just used prime along with it. My tank and inhabitants seem to all be healthy and everything is growing nicely so I dont think you would have a problem using the tap water where you live.

Also thanks to my tap water I dont have to continually supplement with calcium since where I live there is tons of it in the tap water.
