SEOs or Closed Loop On New Tank
In a bit of a conundrum on the plumbing of my new tank.
I have a Mag1800 as a return pump For additional flow I have some options. In my 230 that Is going to be coming down I have 2 SEO 820's and 1 SEO 1500 I also have a Mag1800 Return Pump. I am Trying to decide what to do for Flow in the new tank. I was going to try to have 1 SEO820 and the SEO1500 and the return for flow but am considering using my spare Mag1800 as a closed loop pump and only having the SEO1500 (it is still in the housing so it is not too hard to hide) What should I do? |

I would say closed loop for sure.
Because your tank is brand new, see if AquaGiant will drill and guarantee the holes for the closed loop, otherwise you can go "over the edge" with PVC in and out, cause it would suck to break your new tank. The mag 1800 return + the mag1800 on closed loop would be plenty of flow for a 150g tank, you shouldn't need any powerheads. |

I also agree with getting a Closed Loop. Those high flow seios are big. The M2600 is like 8x12 or something huge like that.
Are you doing a mixed reef or SPS only or? A Mag 18 is ok, but there are much better and bigger pumps out there
